Prevalencia de Obesidad en pacientes con Hipertensión Arterial de 45 a 65 años que acuden al Centro de Salud La Vija en el cantón Salitre entre los meses de octubre a diciembre en el año 2021.

Abstract

Introduction: Primary health care is the basis for a healthy population, according to the WHO comprehensive health should include different aspects of life such as physical, mental, and nutritional health. Disorders in nutritional habits pose a risk that translates into cardio-metabolic pathologies such as diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure and obesity, highly prevalent comorbid clinical conditions in our population according to the STEPS Ecuador 2018 survey. That is why this research work seeks to determine an updated prevalence of these pathologies, based on a significant sample of patients from a rural health unit. And in turn, analyze if there is a relationship between the diagnosis of arterial hypertension (HTA) and overweight or obesity. Objective: Determine the prevalence of obesity in the sample of adult hypertensive patients who attend The Vija Health Center in the Salitre canton between the months of October to December in the year 2021. Method: Quantitative study, with a descriptive, non-experimental crosssectional approach, seeks to provide information on the presence of obesity in hypertensive patients in adults aged 45 to 65 years who attended the La Vija Health Center in The Salitre canton between the months from october to december 2021. Conclusion: From the results of this research work, it was obtained that, of the patients diagnosed with arterial hypertension at the La Vija Health Center in the period from october to december 2021: 44% of the sample had a BMI greater than 25, while 39% and 11% of the sample were in the obesity type I and II ranges, respectively. With these results we affirmatively demonstrate our research hypothesis on the relationship between high blood pressure and obesity.
