Entorno pandémico covid-19 y rentabilidad económica de hoteles en la parroquia Tarqui, adjunto al Centro Comercial Mall del Sol, ciudad de Guayaquil, periodo 2020-2021.

Abstract

The following research work determined the situation faced by large hotels in Guayaquil due to the health emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the aforementioned, a study of the pandemic environment and its impact on the economic profitability of the hotels surrounding the C.C. Mall del Sol. The theories applied were made from an administrative point of view, and those that allow the development of this topic were taken as a starting point among the many schools of administration. Among them are: the theory of Flexibility, Resources and Capabilities, Contingency Theory, Resource Dependence Theory and the Evolutionary Ecological Theory. And on the other hand, the relevant theories for profitability such as: Capital Structure Theories, Classic Profitability Theories and the most appropriate for this work, Sustainable Growth Theory. The research focuses on the study of the actions and strategies adopted by the hotels in the aforementioned area, in the pandemic and post-pandemic. For this purpose, the non-experimental research design was used, with a transactional or cross-sectional definition of a descriptive nature. The tools to obtain the data were the execution of a survey of 50 people who make up the management and middle managers of the hotels in the aforementioned area and a compilation of financial information from official sources. The result of the study evidenced the adaptation that hotels achieved in this pandemic environment and their permanence in the hotel sector despite the inconveniences and changes in their profitability.
