Abstract

The Urdesa sector is a sensitive and critical area in relation to its storm sewer systems. The systems were built between the 70s and 80s, with different runoff and discharge conditions. One of the main drainage problems in this sector is that there are two areas or sub-basins with clearly differentiated physiographic characteristics. Precipitation with return periods greater than 5 years, added to the effect of the tide by the salty estuary, cause continuous flooding that affects the residential population of that area. This titling work proposes a redesign of a collector along Jiguas street, parallel to Ilanes, with the aim of alleviating the flow that passes through the main collector and thus being able to mitigate the effect of flooding. Within the design considerations, there is the effect of the tide with a storm with a return period of 10 years.
