Abstract

This project presents the creative and technical process behind the short film Demens. This is an audiovisual product designed under a short film format, which explores the Psychological Thriller genre with the intention of generating an impression through the sensory manipulation of both the main character and the audience. Demens follows the life of Frank, who, with no mental record of the event, has become part of an investigation about human behavior under confinement. This Project takes inspiration from the COVID-19 pandemic, and focuses on isolation, mental health and conspiracy theories that arise in its wake. This short film makes use of different cinematographic resources. Colors, lighting, makeup, camera movements and a high range of emotions within the script, brought to life through acting, used with the aim of guiding the audience through the passage of time within the universe proposed, and at the same time, achieve the desired reaction from the audience.
