Características epidemiológicas sobre las infecciones de sitio quirúrgico en pacientes adultos sometidos a cirugías ortopédicas en el Hospital General del Norte de Guayaquil Los Ceibos durante el año 2019.

Abstract

Over the years, orthopedic surgeries have been developing effectively, however, one of the problems that hinder the successful recovery of patients is surgical site infections that can be caused by various factors that influence the appearance of these. The present study seeks to describe the epidemiological characteristics of surgical site infections in patients undergoing orthopedic surgeries at the HGNG IESS Los Ceibos during the year 2019. The type of research that was used is retrospective, observational and cross-sectional descriptive. The results obtained were 143, 22.38% corresponding to the female gender and 77.62% to the male gender, an average age of 47.4 of patients with an in-situ infection, with a wound classification according to the ASA scale being clean-contaminated. the most predominant with a total of 110 patients added the three scores that this scale contains, the surgical technique that presented the most patients with infection was osteosynthesis with 31.48% followed by ORIF with 30.56%. The female age group with the highest incidence was found to be over 66 years old with 28.57%, while the male age group with the highest incidence was 56 to 65 years old with 22.99%. Surgical site infections can appear regardless of the presence or not of a patient's personal history, however maintaining harmful habits can favor the prevalence of these as well as the other variables reviewed in this study.
