Análisis del cuidado integral a pacientes con tratamiento de quimioterapia, ingresados en el área de oncología del Hospital de Especialidades Dr. Teodoro Maldonado Carbo, año 2021.

Abstract

Introduction: Comprehensive care is an urgent need in professional practice and this is evidenced in the policies, regulatory provisions established by health entities that watch over the rights of patients and guarantee the quality of the service provided. Objective: To identify comprehensive care in patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in a Hospital in the city of Guayaquil. Material and Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, the study population was 127 patients hospitalized in the oncology area receiving chemotherapy treatment, to whom the KARNOFSKY, DUKE, HADS, the principles of bioethics were taken into account. Results: The research allowed to identify the most vulnerable individuals regarding their comprehensive care and quality of life. 42% of patients are in the category of Incapable of self-care. 17% show a minimum level of social support, 40% have anxiety and 55% depression. Conclusion: Patients with stages III and IV who have received several cycles of chemotherapy do not have the social support of their family and do not have a good quality of life, unlike the rest of the patients who are starting chemotherapy treatment. Patients with higher quality of life are patients who have a better education of the pathology and have greater family and social support.
