Influencia de la micoplasmosis sobre los valores hematológicos en gatos atendidos en la Clínica Veterinaria Amevet.

Abstract

The present investigation is exploratory, non-experimental, with a descriptive scope and a quantitative approach that was carried out from the collection of clinical data of feline patients treated within the months of May to August 2022 at the Clínica Veterinaria Amevet located in the city of Daule, province of Guayas. The sample size was a total of 76 cats, which were divided into 38 positive and 38 negative for Mycoplasma haemofelis. The investigation was carried out in two phases: First, clinical care and data collection were carried out, which were: age, sex, presence of fleas at the time of consultation and taking blood samples for blood count and peripheral blood smear. The second phase consisted of the tabulation of the data obtained, comparing the frequencies and the statistical analysis of each variable. It was possible to demonstrate statistically, by making frequency tables, that the most recurrent alterations within the hemogram of patients infected by Mycoplasma haemofelis were low levels of hematocrit with 61%, hemoglobin with 55% and erythrocytes with 63%. Using Chi-square with respect to the relationship between the presence of fleas with the presence of Mycoplasma haemofelis, it was possible to identify that, if there is dependence between the variables. Finally, it was identified that there is no dependence between sex and age with the presence of Mycoplasma haemofelis in cats treated at the Clínica Veterinaria Amevet.
