Tratamiento de la enfermedad periodontal y su impacto en la calidad de vida de los pacientes atendidos en la clínica odontológica de la UCSG.

Abstract

Introduction: Periodontitis is a common chronic inflammatory disease characterized by destruction of the supporting structures of the teeth (the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone). Periodontal disease should also be subjectively evaluated through measures that quantify its impact on quality of life related to oral health. Objective: To demonstrate that the treatment of periodontal disease and its impact on the quality of life of patients treated at the UCSG dental clinic. Materials and methods: it has a quantitative research approach because it is characterized by collecting statistical data, in this case they will be carried out through surveys of patients from the UCSG dental clinic. Analysis and discussion of results: Most of the patients felt satisfied with the periodontal therapy, in addition the results showed that they felt better in terms of self-esteem and aesthetics, their halitosis improved considerably and they would recommend the treatment to relatives or close friends Conclusion : This study showed that patients treated at the dentistry clinic of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil were satisfied with the results of periodontal treatment, thus confirming that it favors not only oral health, but also in general, providing the patient with greater self-esteem, favoring their aesthetics, and thus improving their quality of life.
