Rendimiento masticatorio en pacientes portadores de prótesis dental total y parcial removible, clínica odontológica UCSG, 2022.

Abstract

Introduction: Masticatory function is a unifying concept used to refer globally to terms such as masticatory ability, efficiency and/or performance and corresponds to the subjective response of patients regarding their objective ability to chew. Objective: To evaluate masticatory performance in patients with removable total and partial dentures, UCSG Dental Clinic, 2022. Materials and methods: A quantitative approach study was presented, carried out in the chair of Total and Partial Removable Prosthesis II. The study population consisted of 60 patients over 18 years of age seen at the UCSG Dental Clinic during the period B-2022 and who met the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: A total of 120 samples were obtained (60 of 10 chewing cycles and 60 of 20 chewing cycles) divided into 15 participants with total removable prostheses and 45 participants with partial removable prostheses. Conclusion: It is concluded that the highest degree of mixing of the chewing gums occurs at 20 chewing cycles in participants with removable partial dentures, therefore, in these participants it is indicated that they present a higher chewing performance.
