La femineidad en mujeres infértiles que han iniciado un proceso de adopción.

Abstract

Infertility is a reproductive health problem that affects millions of people around the world. In Ecuador, the majority of women who wish to adopt have infertility problems. Regardless of the reason, the diagnosis of infertility does not disturb that desire to be mothers, but rather enhances it. Why? General objective: In this research I explored how infertility affects the concept of femininity in women who are going through the adoption process. Specific objectives: It was defined what infertility is and what it is to be a woman. In addition, it was explored how infertility influenced the desire to be mothers and its relationship with the sense of what it is to be a woman. Method: In the present work, the qualitative approach, the phenomenological paradigm, structured interviews as an instrument and observation and bibliographic study were used as data collection techniques for a sample of three professionals and four women candidates in the process of adopting the Guayaquil Technical Adoption Unit. Results: There is a positive correlation between theory, professional experience and personal experience regarding the effects of infertility in the sense of what it is to be a woman. Conclusion: Infertility is a signifier that shakes the feminine identity, because it makes it impossible to answer the question: What is it to be a woman?.
