Prevalencia de las patologías mamarias en pacientes de 25 a 85 años atendidas en la consulta externa del Hospital General del Norte IESS Ceibos en el periodo 2021 - 2022.

Abstract

Introduction: Breast pathologies are frequent affectations in the life of women, according to the WHO worldwide, benign type corresponds to 90% of them and among the most seen non-cancerous abnormalities are fibroadenomas and cysts, as well as infections. Objective: To establish the prevalence of breast pathologies in patients from 25 to 85 years of age treated in the outpatient clinic of the North General Hospital IESS Ceibos in the period 2021 – 2022. Materials and methods: This research have a qualitative approach, with data collection and the analysis and interpretation of the results, a non-experimental design that was applied to 402 female patients between the ages of 25 and 85 who attended the outpatient consultation of the North General Hospital IESS Ceibos in the period 2021 – 2022. Results: The findings that were obtained confirmed that benign breast lesions during the years 2021 -2022 had a greater number of cases (82.59%), the most frequent being the breast cyst (33.1%) in 2021 and (38.7 %) in 2022. In malignant breast pathologies, infiltrating ductal carcinoma was the most frequent (71%) in 2021 and (75%) in 2022. In addition, it was shown that the findings of patients with benign breast lesions were incidental, that is, they went to the consultation for gynecological control (45%), while in malignant cases they were due to breast masses (44%). Conclusion: Through this study it is evident that the most prevalent breast pathologies are of a benign nature, associated with patients with a similar clinical profile, such as being overweight, multiparous, a history of diabetes and with an age range of 41 to 60 years.
