Abstract

This document presents the architectural proposal of a community neighborhood center located in the urban environment of the Bastión Popular neighborhood in the city of Guayaquil. The main purpose of this project is to foster social interactions through a multifunctional space designed based on activities currently segregated in the streets, with the approach of contributing to the integral improvement of the neighborhood and ensuring the active participation of citizens. The initiative contemplates the development of a two-level building. The first level will be conceived as a natural extension of the street, with the aim of creating a flexible environment conducive to the implementation and integration of small-scale activities. On the other hand, the second level will host a set of activities that will evolve from these first small-scale interactions, characterized by the need for a safer and more controlled environment. The relationship between the community neighborhood center and its immediate context will be designed so as not to interrupt the continuity of the street, ensuring a fluid access to this open floor. This strategy will contribute to the creation of a shared space that will allow the integration and participation of the community, even when the second level of the center is inactive. The design of this building focuses on making the most of the available land, making it an opportunity to provide additional space that functions as a meeting point for the community. In essence, this project aims to be a vital element to strengthen community ties and improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. The architectural proposal presented here seeks to transcend the limits of a conventional building, aspiring to become an engine of change and social development in the neighborhood Bastion Popular.
