Percepciones sobre la salud sexual y reproductiva de adolescentes : estudio con padres y adolescentes de una Unidad Educativa de Palestina.

Abstract

Adolescent pregnancy is one of the most relevant issues in our country, due to the fact that the existing figures, where the constant increase in this problem is evident, is alarming for our society. The stage of adolescence occurs in an approximate age range that starts from 12 years to 18 years, which means that a pregnancy at this age would develop at the type in which the adolescent is in her school stage. The present research work reveals the situation in which the adolescents of an Educational Unit of the Palestinian canton find themselves. From the data collected, it was evidenced that there was a notable increase in the period 2020-2021, where a greater number than usual decided to become mothers. Which is somewhat worrying since many of them were seriously thinking of abandoning their studies due to the responsibilities they now had to assume. As a result of this, the Institution decided to take various measures to help prevent and in turn reduce the presence of premature pregnancies, through projects and awareness campaigns. At the moment of putting into practice the instruments that would help to know the perspective of the students regarding this topic, a new reality could be evidenced, the same one that was surprising. A large part of the student population did not have the necessary information, not even the basic one, there were students who did not know how important contraceptive methods are and what they avoid, they had no idea what STDs were and the consequences they these have in the lives of individuals, they were unaware of the option of having family planning or how important sexual health is at their age. Implementing a subject that allows them to know beyond what they assume or hear is necessary. Ignorance and misinformation can be one of the great antagonists in the lives of adolescents when they start their sexual life. Undoubtedly, this research admitted to see the reality that adolescents live from their positions, allowing us to have a more realistic picture and closer to what they live, this will allow us to create a tool that generates a solution to this social problem.
