Los duelos y pérdidas en el encuentro con lo real del diagnóstico de cáncer en adolescentes.

Abstract

The present research work focused on grief and losses in adolescents in the encounter with the reality of a cancer diagnosis, due to the characteristics of the oncological disease, a comprehensive approach is required, in which clinical psychology plays a very important role. Therefore, the objective was to analyze the grief and losses in adolescents when faced with the reality of a cancer diagnosis. The methodology used was the qualitative approach and descriptive method, therefore the data collection technique used was semistructured interviews with clinical psychologists and biographical interviews with adolescent patients aged 15-17 years who are in an oncology hospital in the city of Guayaquil. Among the results obtained in this research, it is highlighted that when the adolescent receives the diagnosis of cancer, regardless of the type of cancer, the clinical stage, the patient associates it with death and mobilizes him, as well as the ways in which each one manages to cope with the disease situation were also found.
