Abstract

This study aims to explore the attitudes of students at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil regarding the use of chatbots as a support tool in essay writing. A qualitative approach was employed, and data were collected through probabilistic sampling, resulting in a sample of 112 participants determined by the formula applicable to finite populations. Among the notable findings, a significant 73.2% of students expressed agreement with the idea that acquiring skills in the use of artificial intelligence is an accessible process. This outcome reflects a widespread belief in the capacity of artificial intelligence to enhance effectiveness in essay composition. The comprehensive analysis of these data provides fundamental insights into the outlined overall objective, offering a comprehensive and informed view of the perceptions and attitudes of students within this specific academic program. The study highlights the accessibility of acquiring AI skills, underscoring the positive outlook among students and contributing valuable perspectives to the intersection of technology and academia
