Abstract

The project Reception Center for retirees in Machala is located in the Velasco Ibarra neighborhood of the city of Machala, Ecuador, being a highly residential and mixed-use sector (commerce - residential), however, the land is delimited by Av. 25 of June where the commerce is centralized and the street Loja that the residence is preserved. The design is developed from the user’s connection with nature, since the land has existing vegetation, the use of trees, natural light, color is chosen, contemplation areas allowing to reach the user awareness, in this case the elderly through biophilia and be able to stimulate their senses with these named elements. The conditions given by the site analysis allows me to generate design strategies that are functional when designing the proposal, among their determinants are the existing vegetation, commerce, views and accessibility. The strategies focus on functionality, shape and structure, with it I elaborate internal courtyards that connect interior and exterior spaces, as well as two squares that are directed towards an entry and exit point, also its formal development is explained by means of a wall that borders the existing vegetation, generating a sense of discovery and intrigue by the spaces that are generated within it, in turn the inner courtyards are crossed by means of connections that are given by absolute forms.
