Guayaquil hacia la modernidad: La influencia del pensamiento moderno residencial en el Caso Urdesa 1955-1979.

Abstract

The present research document exposes the influence of modern thought from the Congress of Modern Architecture (CIAM), and the formal architectural development of the houses of the Urbanizadora del Salado, between the years 1955 to 1979. This is done with the purpose of creating awareness regarding the architectural memory of the site based on the historical, critical and architectural impact. Starting from the ideologies and thoughts of what we will call the new modernity and its formal representations through typical cases. Using the comparative historical methodology, a bibliographic survey of the influences of modern residential thought is carried out after the post-war period after the immigration of European architects to Latin America, where a series of conferences, manifestos and new architectural styles are generated in response to social needs. ,economic, academic and housing of society specifically in Buenos Aires (1939), Santiago de Chile (1945) and Guayaquil (1955). This will result in the verification of the relationship between the influence of modern CIAM thought and the formal residential architectural design of the Urbanizadora del Salado, by virtue of creating a solid theoretical base that will be the emphasis of future research, interventions and studies of the site. Prioritizing the importance of preserving the modern characteristics of the site and how these should not be destroyed and replaced but rather adapted, studied and reinterpreted according to the zeitgeist to which it is presented.
