Análisis del conocimiento, actitud y práctica de los cuidadores informales de los pacientes oncológicos ingresados en el Hospital Solca - Guayaquil.

Abstract

Informal caregivers have a special influence on the health status of the patients they care for, so the study of aspects surrounding their knowledge, attitude and practice regarding the care of cancer patients is important to analyze to what extent they are affected by this activity. Objective: Determine the knowledge, attitude and practice of informal caregivers regarding the care of cancer patients. Methodology: Descriptive, quantitative, non-experimental, prospective, transversal, with a sample of 100 informal caregivers. Results: The recurrent age range was 18 to 29 years with 36%, women represented 72% of the sample, 32% were children of the patients, 53% had been providing care for less than 1 year and 25% showed pain lumbar; alterations in knowledge, 30% did not recognize warning signs and 24% did not know what metastasis was; alterations in attitude, 13% were never informed about vital signs and 9% were never instructed about complications of their patient's cancer; alterations in practice, 62% sometimes carry out lifting of their family member. Conclusion: The knowledge, attitude and practice of caregivers is regular because they present important alterations in certain indicators.
