Abstract

This research work focuses on the creation of an original song, fusing elements of hard bop and Horace Silver's songs “Soulville” and “The Back Beat” from the 1957 album The Stylings of Silver. This together with a Latin rhythm section inspired by Cuban son. The research methodology considers a qualitative approach and a descriptive scope. The data collection instruments used are: recordings, videos, score analysis, previous research works. With the results of this research are also the details of the original composition “The Odyssey of Nick Belane”. The author recommends the discretionary use of the resources imparted, with the aim of creating works of art that innovate, and at the same time carry with them relevant contributions from the past.
