Factores socioeconómicos y su influencia en el cuidado y mantenimiento de las prótesis.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Poor dental prosthesis cleaning can be a cause of bacterial and fungal infections, This resistance to prosthetic cleaning and care may be influenced by a variety of socioeconomic factors such as the level of education, economic income. Most patients with removable prostheses are not careful about their hygiene. OBJECTIVE: To determine the influence of socioeconomic factors on the care and maintenance of removable prostheses in patients treated at the UCSG dental clinic. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The research design will be observational and analytical, type of research is transversal. The study will count with a universe of 50 patients treated during the months of May to July 2024. RESULTS: As for gender, no significant difference was found, with a p-value of 0.983, between men and women in terms of hygiene. It was also observed that the educational level did not show a significant association with the care of the p-value of 0.921, and monthly income did not have a significant correlation with the hygiene of the p-value of 0.357. CONCLUSION: The absence of significant associations between age, gender, education and dental care suggests that other factors besides socioeconomic factors may influence oral hygiene.
