Abstract

This work arises with the identification of the living conditions to which they are exposed in the family and community environment of the elderly population, considering that they live a stage of evolutionary development determined by the natural decline of physical, biological, intellectual and psycho-emotional conditions, typical of their age, that is, after 65 years; in order to verify the realities they go through which impact on living conditions; it is important to identify what are the characteristics or challenges they face every day, to know their causes and consequences, which will help us to understand this phenomenon in depth; it should be noted that in indigenous communities living conditions are very precarious, therefore both physical and mental health deteriorate rapidly, on the other hand the existence or not of family or community networks that can support in some way the situation of the elderly is identified, therefore some of the needs identified for the elderly, may or may not be solved in this way. This study was conducted using a qualitative and quantitative methodology, with the aim of collecting the necessary information for the development of the research, therefore, it has been proposed to apply appropriate techniques to the universe of study; the sampling will be applied to focus groups that, through the survey, the interview and direct observation, will contribute to knowing the perceptions of the people involved in said study. This research also includes some theories about the interpersonal and community challenges faced by the older adult population, it also deals with active aging, the weak interest that family members put in the well-being of the older adult; it will also allow determining the theoretical referents of the challenges and difficulties such as religion, culture, economy, traditions, environment where they live, among other difficulties that the older adult population goes through. Understanding this subject will allow determining which are the present elements that contribute or not to improving the living conditions of the human group in question, in addition to establishing the co-responsibility that exists both of the family, the community and the state, in mitigating the identified problem.
