El cuerpo femenino adolescente frente a la falta de límites: una lectura clínica a partir del estudio de caso de la película “Thirteen” y viñetas clínicas.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the adolescent female body and the absence of symbolic boundaries, based on a case study of Catherine Hardwicke’s film Thirteen (2003) and two clinical case studies involving adolescent girls. The study began with the decline of symbolic, paternal, and social references in contemporary society, which leaves adolescents facing a lack of regulation of jouissance, traditionally interpreted as a transgression rather than as a unique attempt to process anxiety. In light of this interpretation, the research proposed an analysis from a psychoanalytic perspective. The methodology employed is based on a qualitative approach with an explanatory scope, combining a case study of the film with a review of clinical vignettes. The results of the analysis were presented in a cross-sectional comparative table of the three cases analyzed, revealing that the fragility of the Other did not manifest as a total absence but rather as singular modalities, overwhelmed, inconsistent, permissive, etc., which left the subjects without stable symbolic mediation, first inscribing itself in the body, then in masquerade, self-harm, substance use, and acting-out. It was also deemed pertinent to note that none of the cases reached the point of a passage to the act, which allowed for a clinical interpretation that recognized these acts as attempts at symbolization and communication directed toward an Other.
