Abstract

This essay aims to inform all those interested in knowing about the competitive analysis of Ecuador in the banana sector applying the Porter model during the years 2011 to 2015. The topics of this essay pretend to show about the potential that Ecuador has as a banana exporter and the different advantages that it has in comparison to its competitors; what the banana export represents in the national GDP and the annually incomes that Ecuador generates. How the country reached the top one of the list of exporters in the world and also the performance of the main exporting companies, which makes it possible to meet the position where we are. The well-known model, The Porter´s Diamond, which can show us what are the comparative advantages that our country has, the ones that made us reached a great product which is demanded worldwide and the enviable location we got. Finally, showing the privileges that Ecuador has and how we have benefited from it.
