Análisis de preparaciones dentales para prótesis parcial fija en tipodontos. Preclínica UCSG A-2017.

Abstract

Introduction: An essential tool for students in preclinical fixed partial denture is the typodont- fabrication, becausa it allows you to increse your manual skills and helps the teacher to assess the quality of the carvings made by the same. The objective of this study is to determine the quality of the preparations of the students and determine the áreas that have favorable and unfavorable skills at the time of the carved on the typodont fabrication. Materials and Methods: A descriptive analytic study. 195 dental preparations were studied in the laboratory of dentistry of the UCSG. A standardized table made by Baylor College of Dentistry defined the parameters of rating where four áreas of interest were analyzed and averaged over the the oclusal –incisal reduction, axial reduction, margin desing and finish line and finally, operative enviroment in Microsoft Excel and Software R. Results: The general average of the oclusal –incisal reduction was 3.2/4, 2.9/4 in axial reduction, margin desing and finish line 2.7/4 and operative enviroment that had 3.4/.4. The dental structure that had best results at the carving was #35 as well as the lower back sector that presented higher scores in the four subjects that where analyzed. The total average of carved teeth presented a rating of 10 out of 7.7 / 10. In a Student's T-test a tail is checked with a that the preparations have favorable carvings. Discussion: The place that presented better performance was the operative enviroment unlike the conformation of the termination line that showed infavorable ratings. The score given between the variables determine that students showed favorable results in the practice of preclinic.
