Experiencia de la intervención del trabajador social en el campo gerontológico. Caso : dos centros de atención diurna en dos cantones de la Región Costa del Ecuador.

Abstract

The present research entitled "Experience of SocialWorker Intervention in the Gerontological Field. Case: Two Day Care Centers intwo cantons of the Coast Region of Ecuador "started from the interest of knowing the experiences that build and mean the work of social workers in the Gerontological area, the intervention with the elderly. The work focused on understanding how these professionals in two gerontological centers make their intervention. This research was carried out with the objective ofunderstanding the experiences in the intervention of Social Work in two gerontological centers of two cantons of the Region of the Coast of Ecuador, this investigation was carried out by a qualitative approach, by the subjective of the experiences , for which two social workers, four older adults and theinterdisciplinary team of the gerontological centers were sampled, applying interviews to the first two units of analysis and the last group of analysis. Thus, the problems experienced by the older adult in the gerontological centers were identified, aimed at the mobility, the conditions of admission and the treatment received; it was also recognized the constructions that social workers have in the face of intervention, the elderly and aging, and finally, the theories, models, methods, functions and roles that social workers apply to the interventionist experiences are identified.
