Percepciones sobre la enfermedad y tratamiento de los pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica que son atendidos en el Hospital de Especialidades “Dr. Abel Gilbert Pontón” de la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

The present research of qualitative focus and exploratory level had as objective to know the perceptions of the patients with chronic renal failure, who are treated at the Dr. Abel Gilbert Pontón Hospital in the city of Guayaquil, in view of the changes experienced since the diagnosis of the disease. For the collection of information, in-depth interviews and focal groups were used on four patients and their respective families, with the purpose of procuring opinions and experiences of the patients and their relatives; to be able to establish a basic diagnosis, which will allow future proposals for a program of support from Social Work, for people suffering from catastrophic diseases such as chronic renal failure. This research was carried out with theoretical input based on perception, quality of life, relationship and family support; categories from which has been extracted the support to establish a knowledge of the patients 'and their families' feeling. With this research the patients' feeling was known and the changes within the family dynamics were recognized, allowing each one to better deal with the disease and treatment, and in turn improve the level of satisfaction regarding the supplement and support they receive from the Social Work area.
