Teatro-Biblioteca Municipal de Bahía de Caráquez.

Abstract

This document exposes the architectural process of the ‘Teatro-Biblioteca de Bahía de Caráquez’. The purpose of the project is to promote tourism in the city, through the construction of a hybrid buil-ding that contains public space, service space, areas of experimental interaction and as main ac-tivities the theater and library. The experimental nature of the project allows us to reuse the current ‘containers’ which are found in the building site and grant them different activities to reactivate the space instantly, an example of this is the ‘container cafeteria’, which generates interaction among the employees of the municipality. The experimentality goes hand in hand with the flexibility of the ground floor, which allows the public space of the street to take ownership of the project, inviting people to go through it and observe the different activities that take place in the containers. With this in mind, it is proposed to generate a project that not only works inside, but also coexists with its exterior and enhances the sector in which it is implemented.
