Resumen : The research aims to analyze the interoperability of credit cards and their impact on the commercial performance of Guayaquil business premises. In 1968 Diners Club was the pioneer of the implementation of this payment system, which was widely accepted, since then credit cards with the same subsidiaries: Visa, MasterCard, American Express were issued by Banks of Pichincha, Pacifico, Guayaquil. In the same way that their goal was the affiliation of commercial establishments that accept this means of payment, through this implemented system, problems arose in relation to the percentage rates that the banks charged to the affiliated premises, for this reason this investigation through of the Hypothetical-Deductive method seeks to test a hypothesis that is formulated based on the problem that exists between commercial premises and the operation of credit cards as a form of payment to establish which way affects their commercial performance and if it benefits or affects them . This study is structured in five chapters where the different variables that are related to the research and are analyzed in a non-experimental quantitative way: sales volume with credit card, commercial performance and customer influx. To carry out this study, it has first been determined in which environment the credit cards are developed, which is the process that includes this payment system, the participating agents and the influence of each one of them, to research it has been carried out a survey of a sample of 400 commercial premises in the city of Guayaquil, in order to test the hypothesis formulated. Where crossed tables are included and with a square text test, it is determined if the hypothesis is rejected or approved. The results of the investigation showed that the performance of commercial premises is determined by their ability to receive payments with credit cards. In other words, these local affiliates of this payment system, despite the fact that the bank takes a percentage of sales with credit cards, it has had a positive influence on their customer inflow and sales level.
