Frecuencia de efectos periodontales de dientes pilares en PPR en Clínica Odontológica UCSG A 2017.

Abstract

Aim: to evaluate and determine the frequency of effects and repercussions of removable partial dentures in the periodontium of the abutment teeth. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional and analytical observational descriptive study, the periodontal tissues of the abutment teeth of patients with RPD who have been treated at the dental clinic of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil were clinically evaluated. Results: 43 patients with RPD were evaluated, with women having more prevalence (67.44%) than men (32.56%). The final analysis found a greater frequency of plaque accumulation (45.45%), mild gingival inflammation (45.45%), absence of periodontal pockets (56.25%), absence of dental mobility (52.84%) and gingival recessions (58.52%). Conclusions: RPD affects the periodontal tissues of the abutment teeth in a long term usage, so it is convenient to perform prosthetic maintenance periodically.
