Estudio comprativo del tratamiento informativo dado por el diario público El Telégrafo al tema del endeudamiento público externo en los Gobiernos de Rafael Correa (2007-2017) y Lenín Moreno (2017-actualidad).

Abstract

The general objective of the present investigation was to compare the information treatment given by the public newspaper El Telégrafo to 35 published journalistic pieces about the external public debt in the governments of Rafael Correa (2007-2017) and Lenín Moreno (2017-present), from the principles and values of journalism. The methodology used in this investigation was mixed: qualitative and quantitative. I used the technique of content analysis to a sample of 35 journalistic pieces selected from the emergence of the event, conflict or controversy generated by these publications, based on journalistic criteria. I also used the technique of interviewing experts related to communication and journalism, former director / editor (s) and the current editor of newspaper El Telégrafo to establish the interference of former president Rafael Correa and current president Lenin Moreno in the treatment informative of the newspaper to the subject of external public indebtedness. For the processing I used the table of contents tool in Excel, from this I analyzed the contents of the selected journalistic pieces and I counted the obtained results. The investigation allowed me to establish that newspaper El Telégrafo gave the same informative treatment to the topic of external public debt during the governments of Rafael Correa and what is going on in the government of Lenín Moreno, due to the interference in its editorial policy, in breach of the principles and values of journalism in the function of a medium of a public nature.
