| Résumé: | La disfunción de la articulación temporomandibular es una afección que la padece gran parte de la población a nivel mundial. El dolor, los chasquidos o crujidos y las irregularidades en los movimientos de esta articulación, son las principales alteraciones. El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar los beneficios de la Terapia Manual Ortopédica en el tratamiento de disfunción de la ATM en los estudiantes de la carrera de terapia física, que se encuentran entre primer y tercer ciclo de la UCSG. Se realizó un trabajo de investigación con un enfoque cuantitativo de alcance explicativo, con un diseño tipo experimental, de corte pre experimental. La muestra fue de 42 estudiantes, los cuales se encontraron entre las edades de 17 a 31 años. Los resultados de esta técnica respecto a la escala visual analógica (EVA), demostraron que la media del dolor de todos los estudiantes al inicio fue de 6(moderado), mientras que al final del tratamiento fue de 3(leve); las mediciones tomadas con la regla milimetrada también evidenciaron una mejoría en cuanto a la apertura bucal teniendo como media inicial 47mm y final 44mm; el test de Krogh demostró que el 71.5% de estudiantes presentaban más de tres signos de una disfunción, obteniendo un resultado favorable al final del tratamiento, en donde el porcentaje disminuyó al 28%. En conclusión, este estudio evidenció que el dolor y la condición funcional de la articulación temporomandibular, por medio del tratamiento de terapia manual ortopédica obtuvieron una mejoría relevante. |
| Description: | Temporomandibular joint dysfunction is a condition that affects a large part of the population worldwide. The pain, the clicks or crunches and the irregularities in the movements of this joint are the main alterations. The objective of this work was to determine the benefits of Orthopedic Manual Therapy in the treatment of TMJ dysfunction in the students of the physical therapy career who are in the first and third cycles of the UCSG. A research work was carried out with a quantitative approach of explanatory scope, with an experimental type design, of pre experimental cut. The sample was 42 students, which were between the ages of 17 to 31 years. The results of this technique with respect to the visual analogue scale (EVA), showed that the average of the pain of all the students at the beginning was 6 (moderate), while at the end of the treatment it was 3 (mild); the measurements taken with the millimeter rule also showed an improvement in the oral opening, with an initial mean of 47mm and a final 44mm; The Krogh test showed that 71.5% of students had more than three signs of a dysfunction, obtaining a favorable result at the end of treatment, where the percentage decreased to 28%. In conclusion, this study showed that the pain and the functional condition of the temporomandibular joint, through orthopedic manual therapy treatment, obtained a relevant improvement. |
