Utilización de recursos orquestales del compositor Sammy Nestico para la creación de un arreglo en formato big band del tema “Bye Bye Blackbird” basado en el tema “88 Basie Street”.

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to create an arrangement of the theme "Bye Bye Blackbird" for a big band´s format, using the orchestral resources of the theme "88 Basie Street" by the American composer Sammy Nestico. A qualitative approach and a descriptive experimental range methodology was used. This research was divided into three stages for data collection such as documentary analysis, audio analysis and transcription of the selected topic. The investigation allowed the identification of the orchestral resources of contemporary music used by Sammy Nestico, which was necessary to elaborate the arrangement for "Bye Bye Blackbird". This proposal will be a reference to musicians in general who want to know and analyze the different harmonic resources used in traditional orchestration for big band format so this will be starting point for further research work.
