Posesión demoníaca como manifestación histérica : un diagnóstico contingente.

Abstract

The following project is sustained on the basis of psychoanalytic theory and its contributions, it’ll specifically address hysterical neurosis. By doing so, it will record three chapters: the first one, which consists of deepening into hysteria’s origins, its evolution from Sigmund Freud’s contributions until Jacques Lacan’s ones. The second author’s contributions will consist of correcting certain failures Freud made in the past throughout the cases he attended. In respect of the second chapter, it will analyze religion’s perspective in terms of a hysterical phenomenon known by them as demonic possession, to which they attribute certain hysterical manifestations to an evil entity. Also, references to Recalcati will be employed, where he will explain the hysterical body position towards those manifestations. Finally, the third chapter will present a real case of hysteria that was previously taken as a demonic possession: the exorcism of Anneliese Michel, a teenager raised in a catholic conservative environment, whom due to the dissatisfaction she felt with the answers science and doctors gave her to the convulsions she was manifesting, is convinced and led by her mother to go and get an exorcism done, as a way to heal her ailing.
