Abstract

The function of the Student Counseling Department is to provide support and accompaniment to the comprehensive training process for the effective approach to psychosocial problems that affect the development of all members of the educational community. The present research project aimed to analyze the subjective discomfort present in the professionals of the Student Counseling Departments as a result of the professional development of their functions. The methodological approach used was the qualitative one with an exploratory study scope. The technique used was semi-structured interviews, which were administered to ten professionals from the DECE of Educational Institutions of District 11D01 of Loja. As results of the investigation, it was possible to extract that the professionals of the DECE manifest subjective discomfort in front of their professional work because their functions have not been delimited according to their specialty, there is a surcharge of functions corresponding to other instances, the number of professionals is insufficient to the number of students who require attention, there is a demand regarding the results immediately, doing a job under pressure, without having a program that allows addressing their subjective discomfort.
