Abstract

The objective of the present degree work was to analyze the subjective effects during the mourning process as a consequence of the prohibition of funeral rituals due to the Covid-19 pandemic, from a bibliographic research from psychoanalytic theory, to highlight the importance of the role of symbolic resources in the elaboration of the duel. The method used in the current research work is qualitative, with the use of two techniques: structured interview and bibliographic review. It is thanks to these techniques that it was possible to obtain relevant information from reliable sources and from subjects who experienced the loss of a loved one in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Here, a compilation of various themes and sub-themes that gave shape and substance to the current investigative work was presented: the Other, the Grief, Biopolitics and the Alternative Paths for a Possible Elaboration of Grief. The correlation and analysis of the interviews, the bibliographic review and the great theoretical support based on psychoanalysis, psychology and philosophy, made it possible to show that symbolic resources such as funeral rites are necessary for the elaboration of mourning and that the absence of They generated great damage in the population not only physical, but also psychic, affecting the daily life of the subjects and also that the subjects were pushed to seek new ways of resignification and new modes of enjoyment, thus adapting to the new modalities before the Covid-19 pandemic.
