Impacto económico por Covid-19 en el sector de papelería y útiles escolares en la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

The following work presents an analysis of the economic impact of Covid-19 in the stationery and school supplies sector in the city of Guayaquil. The research has a quantitative, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional approach. It contains primary information obtained through surveys and interviews, from secondary information sources data was taken from Superintendence of Companies, Securities and Insurance, and National Institute of Statistics and Censuses. Three variables were used, which correspond to the percentage of those infected, the number of students according to the households that availed themselves of the virtual modality of study, and the budget of the households destined for the purchase of these supplies; surveys were conducted to 384 Guayaquil families in relation to the change of study modality. The companies, through comparative analyzes between 2019, 2020, and 2021 of their financial statements, note that their income level declined and with the responses of the regression of the variables, it is concluded that the approximate monetary level of losses in the sector was $65,618.66 during the years 2020 and 2021 this without counting the more than 140,000 families that are made up of school-age children. The equation obtained is detailed as follows: Y= -16.89+104.474 X_1+13.369X_2. Regarding the regression coefficients, in the case of the number of children in school (X1) it has a direct relationship with the dependent variable Y because if the number of children who study varies, the purchase budget will also vary by 103,474 dollars.
