Evaluación funcional de los pacientes con osteoartritis en el Centro de Rehabilitación Integral Especializado Guayaquil #2.

Abstract

Introduction: Osteoarthritis belongs to the most common degenerative joint affections group and one of the main causes of disability in the world, characterized by causing joint pain, stiffness and loss of functional capacity. Objective: Evaluate the functionality of patients with osteoarthritis at the Comprehensive specialized Rehabilitation Center Guayaquil #2. Materials and Methods: It was an investigative study with a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design, because the variables were not deliberately manipulated. Cross-sectional, because the information was collected in a single time, for the analysis of the results obtained from the WOMAC Questionnaire, in patients who appeared to have osteoarthritis. Results: It was determined according to sex that the patients were female, which corresponded to 90%, most of them between 60 and 70 years old; 70% of the studied group were housewives; presented 55% way too much pain and 45% a lot of pain; 45% stiffness; while 10% did not decrease functional capacity in affected joints. Conclusions: Osteoarthritis affected the functional condition of most women, and it was evidenced with the analysis of the results obtained, through the WOMAC questionnaire.
