Abstract

The purpose of this degree work is to create a georeferenced digital database through the geographic information system with the help of a field study, in which the existing buildings in the different study areas of southern Guayaquil are evaluated. All of these using the rapid visual detection form of seismic vulnerability for buildings, based on FEMA-154, allowing to know the structural typology and the degree of vulnerability before seismic events and then be able to relate them to existing fragility curves, proposed by other authors under foreign regulations. This relationship makes it possible to understand their behavior and thus generate contingency plans in case of chaotic events, intervene in high-risk homes and establish solutions that reduce the lack of criteria when carrying out a construction, in order to have a city with safe buildings that meet the actual and valid structural criteria regulations.
