Abstract

For the investigation about the feasibility by traffic volumes of the construction of a new bridge over the Daule river, which connects the Chorrillo sector with the La Joya sector, traffic counts were carried out with a duration of three days during the 06: 00 to 8:00 p.m., the peak time was determined in the morning from 06:45 a.m. to 07:45 a.m. and in the afternoon from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and origin surveys were carried out – destination with user survey methods and the results showed that the percentage of vehicles that have Samborondón as their destination is around 12% and 7% of users go to the coastal road. With this 12%, the levels of services obtained are low, in such a way that an investment for the construction of a new bridge would not be justified. It also implies that the incidence of volume of vehicles in the sector of the Daule road between Pascuales and the perimeter road, which was the subject of investigation, is the product of demand from people who live in the surroundings of the Chorrillo sector, such as the San Francisco and Pascuales Cooperative.
