Abstract

The Retirement Shelter is an architectural project in Machala that focuses on a building for the elderly, generating functional spaces that meet the needs of the elderly and fostering integration between the architectural project and the surrounding environment. The center aims to reduce the use of structural barriers and generate more open spaces that allow cross ventilation circulation and create in the elderly, greater contact with nature, such as gardens and orchards. The project is coupled to the longitudinality taking to a lateral end its recreational activities, physiotherapy, food, administrative and complementary services such as bathrooms and dressing rooms. Transversality as a point of connection between external areas such as the parking lot and internal area such as the center itself. As the user travels through the project, visit the areas of open-air workshops where the vegetation takes fundamental place because the center is born from the disposition of the existing nature and its free spaces to build. It proposes inclined roofs of a sense with the ability to capture natural lighting towards the interior.
