Abstract

In the present research, the rejection experienced by adolescent mothers towards their children as a result of an act of rape within the family was investigated in order to identify how the mothers were able to welcome and support their children. The topic was considered of great importance since it is a traumatic event that causes a rupture in the victim's life, aspirations, ideals, among others. The research work began along with the professional practices in a group home, where it was noted that of the approximately 40 adolescents who reside there, more than 50% are victims of rape and in the worst cases they became pregnant at an early age, so there is a rejection of their children. Therefore, the objective was to investigate the rejection experienced by adolescent mothers towards their children as a consequence of rape within the family and then to identify the forms of acceptance they achieved with their children through the application of biographical and expert interviews and documentary research. The experience that two adolescent mothers lived with respect to the subjective change of fostering their children was explored and the research was conducted from a qualitative approach, with a descriptive method. The results showed that the adolescent mothers subjectivized motherhood differently and were able to welcome their children, after the feeling of rejection towards them, where the importance of psychological support is highlighted so that they can elaborate something in themselves and support their children.
