Abstract

This research work will address the psychological manifestations presented by adults hospitalized for chronic diseases. In which, a bibliographic tour is developed with a theoretical approach worked from two disciplines, medical and psychoanalytic, which accounts for the psychological alterations and stressors that patients with chronic diseases go through and how this has a significant impact on their lives. Determining that depression, anxiety and stress establish in the individual a real affection of their diagnosis and treatment. From this, the objective is to analyze the psychological alterations that manifest themselves in adult patients hospitalized for chronic diseases, from the theoretical approach of psychoanalysis, to determine the forms of intervention of the clinical psychologist. The research is of qualitative approach, under the interpretative paradigm, where the explanatory method and case study were used, in addition to the technique of documentary review and semi-directed interviews to collect information from the cases worked in the pre-professional practices in a public health institution. The result obtained was to identify that the psychological manifestations most present are anxiety, depression and stress, distinguishing the stressors that are triggered in each patient from a different variable, in terms of their illness or hospitalization. And how the possible modalities of intervention that are determined, allow the patient to develop tools that facilitate the processing of their discomfort in the face of their diagnosis.
