Abstract

The relevance of the listening space in the elaboration of grief in patients with catastrophic illnesses is important in allowing new approaches to the reality experienced by subjects who are diagnosed with this type of illness, in order to give new perspectives to future changes that can be made. in favor of this type of patients. Therefore, the objective was to analyze the influence of weak symbolic resources in the face of the traumatic nature of the disease; the generalized ignorance about the psychological and the absence of a space for clinical listening in the difficulties in the elaboration of duels in hospitalized patients, through the data obtained in field research carried out in a Specialty Hospital in the city of Guayaquil, which generated an academic reflection on the problem. Given this, it was carried out from a qualitative method that used as data collection techniques: bibliographic analysis and interviews with professionals in the psychological field with expertise in addressing these problems. Obtaining a perspective of what happens internally that generates obstacles or obstacles in the grieving processes. Given this, it has been possible to conclude the influence of institutional discourse and ignorance of the importance of psychological accompaniment.
