El paciente diabético amputado : Incidencia de sus creencias entorno a la alteración perceptiva de su imagen, un análisis cognitivo conductual.

Abstract

The present research proposed to study the incidence of the beliefs of diabetic amputee patients regarding the perceptual alteration of their image, from a cognitive-behavioral approach. The importance of this research lies in recognizing how these surgical interventions affect the integral life of the patient, activating beliefs that influence their emotions and maladaptive behaviors. The objective of the research was to identify the incidence of beliefs surrounding the perceptual alteration of diabetic amputee patients hospitalized in the vascular surgery area of a hospital in Guayaquil, through the descriptive method, literature review and interviews with specialists, as a basis for future research to develop plans for clinical interventions focused on this population. The research was carried out from the qualitative approach, working from the interpretative paradigm, by means of the descriptive method. The techniques used were: review of bibliographic sources and semi-structured interviews with specialists. The population were specialists: medical and psychological. Among the results, the specialists agreed that amputations and reamputations have a negative impact on the integral life of the patient. This research concluded that in most diabetic patients, amputation is an activating factor of irrational beliefs, generating emotions and maladaptive behaviors.
