Preferencia en la prescripción de AINES en estudiantes de clínica integral.

Abstract

Introduction: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories are drugs used in dental practice, they play important roles in the treatment of pain and inflammation. Objective: To establish the preference for NSAID prescription in students of the surgery area of the comprehensive clinic of the UCSG. Materials and methods: A survey was conducted among dental students using the QuestionPro application focused on knowledge about the prescription of NSAIDs. Results: 66.4% of students prescribed ibuprofen to manage pain in the area of oral surgery, the administration route was enteral (81%) every 8 hours (81.8). However, they make common mistakes such as not asking about the patient's allergies (35%) or not knowing what to prescribe (21.2%). Finally, when they have a question about the prescription of NSAIDs, the source of information to consult is the teachers (48.2%) Conclusion: The knowledge of pharmacology among the comprehensive clinical students of the UCSG Faculty of Dentistry does not present gaps that could affect patient safety.
