El deseo ignorado del adulto mayor institucionalizado : lo Real de la vejez, el discurso sociocultural y los prejuicios institucionales.

Abstract

The topic of this research was the ignored desire of the institutionalized older adult: the reality of old age, sociocultural discourse and institutional prejudices, the highlight of this work was to recognize the older adult as a desiring subject in the institution; Therefore, it must enable a unique place and perspective. The institution must recognize that the older adult goes through the convergence of multiple griefs. The objective of this research was to analyze the incidence of sociocultural discourse, the Reality of old age and institutional prejudices through the data obtained in a field investigation carried out in a institution for the elderly in the city of Guayaquil, to raise awareness about the factors that sustain the problem. The research approach was qualitative from the psychoanalytic episteme and the method used was descriptive, which allowed us to obtain precise data in relation to the object of study, as well as describe what happens with this population of institutionalized older adults from a clinical perspective and ethics. As a result of the bibliographic review, what was stated in the clinical vignettes and the interviews carried out with health professionals who work with this population, it was found that the sociocultural discourse, the Reality of old age and institutional prejudices influence the ignored desire of the institutionalized older adult, and that is why awareness of these factors at the institutional level is necessary.
