Abstract

The present design of the Visitor Interpretation and Reception Centre for the enhancement of the Velasco Ibarra Wetland, Salinas. It is a comprehensive response to the urgent need to preserve, make visible and educate about one of the most valuable and vulnerable ecosystems that hosts not only native fauna but also transient birds. This project is conceived as a proposal that not only respects the natural environment, but also transforms it into a space for learning, contemplation and community action. A centre model is proposed that functions as a cultural, educational and environmental circuit, promoting the care of nature and eco-tourism. This will be achieved through areas dedicated to the observation and conservation of local flora and fauna, including viewpoints at strategic points that facilitate bird watching and environmental education activities.
