Abstract

This project aims to design a commemorative collector’s book that compiles and represents the 60-year trajectory of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil. The proposal arises from the need to organize and preserve institutional memory, considering that much of the historical information is dispersed, with documentary gaps and the absence of a previous commemorative publication that integrates the faculty’s evolution in a structured way.The project is developed under a research-creation methodology with a qualitative and project-based approach. Information is collected through the review of historical archives, photographic material, and interviews with academic authorities and design professionals. This process allows the identification of conceptual, historical, and visual criteria for the development of the book. Subsequently, the editorial proposal is defined through design elements such as grid systems, typography, visual hierarchy, and materiality, integrating content and form into a coherent structure. As a result, a commemorative collector’s book is designed that not only organizes and presents information clearly but also contributes to the recovery of institutional memory, strengthening the faculty’s identity and fostering a sense of belonging within its community.
