Although in our country there is the Organic Environmental Code that is a national law in force and also the Ordinance of Support for the Comprehensive Protection of Companion Animals, a municipal report has not yet been made on how many dogs are in a situation of abandonment and the number of how much they suffer from abuse. Never in the Main Port has a person been prosecuted for animal abuse, although there have been cases of mass deaths. Currently there are social management projects for the creation of a public shelter and there are organizations that are doing studies on coexistence with dogs so that better policies can be proposed.
