Determinar los factores que limitan el uso de bases de datos bibliográficas virtuales en estudiantes universitarios de la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

This study was aimed to aims determine the factors that hinder the use of virtual bibliographic databases among university students. The research was developed through the application of quantitative techniques and tools that help to evaluate the variables that allow the analysis of the factors that affect the proposed phenomenon. With the use of a questionnaire, designed in accordance with the Likert scale of five categories in the parameters: never, rarely, sometimes, was many times and always, it possible to gather data and analyze it depending on the type of undergraduate programs offered in 2017. The sample was taken from the population made up by university students from the first to the ninth semester raging between 18 and 40 years of age. The study was carried out in two universities in the city: the University of Guayaquil and the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil. Consecutively, the results obtained are presented through statistical techniques in frequency tables and contingency tables, including methods that allow the description and analysis of the data found. In this way, it was possible to verify that there are low frequency rates in the use of the virtual services and resources offered by the virtual library. Finally, with these results, a proposal including communication strategies has being put forward, which is aimed to encourage the use of the virtual library services with the application of technological tools and mobile devices.
